After graduating with an MBChB from the University of Cape Town in 1988 and completing her internship at Groote Schuur Hospital, Dr Ragsdale worked as a General Practitioner before specialising as a General Adult Psychiatrist. Since qualifying, she has completed further training in Cognitive Behavioural Therapy, Adult ADHD,  Addiction Treatment, Ego State Therapy and hypnosis, Mindfulness Based Cognitive Therapy for Depression, and most recently Brain Working Recursive Therapy. Dr Ragsdale ensures that she is always up to date with the latest evidence-based treatment by attending congresses, workshops and lectures, and by regularly reading journal articles.  With 20 years of experience in psychiatry, Dr Ragsdale is qualified to treat a wide range of psychiatric disorders in older teenagers and adults - from anxiety and mood disorders to personality and psychotic disorders, with a special interest in adult ADHD, anxiety and mood disorders.

Taking an empathetic holistic approach and always aiming for excellence, Dr Ragsdale integrates medication and psychotherapy along with various cutting-edge therapies, to ensure her patients always get the best possible treatment available. While most Psychiatrists do not provide therapy for their patients, Dr Ragsdale recognizes that therapy is an integral part of a patient's treatment and therefore avails it to all of her patients.

Dr Ragsdale currently practices as a private Psychiatrist in Claremont, as well as a consultant Psychiatrist for a multi-disciplinary team providing bariatric surgery at The Cape Town Bariatric Clinic at Kingsbury Hospital.
